Memorial Day…

…was relaxing!  We spent the weekend in Indio with family and friends and it was pure bliss!   I wanted to share my favorite image from the whole weekend, so here it is…my beautiful niece Jayden…

Fabulously Fabulous: Jasmine

I know, I know!  Long awaited and much anticipated, but I promise it’s worth the wait!  Drumrolls please….I introduce to you…the fabulously fabulous…Jasmine!  I’m really at a lost for words to describe how powerful this little girl is in front of the camera.  She’s got that “it” factor and I am willing to put money on it that she’ll be doing big things one day.  Please believe me when I say she needed zero direction.  Where she got these poses and looks from is beyond me, honey!  I ended up accusing her mama for it, but even she didn’t know where the girl got it from.  I still say she got it from her mama…

Sneak Peak: Jasmine

Man.  I can’t wait to post the rest of this session!  Here’s a sneak peak of what’s to come.  Isn’t she just fabulously fabulous?  The world ain’t ready for this girl…

Derrick Landon: A Peacoat & A Pom-Pom Hat

The holiday season means just that…a peacoat & a pom-pom hat! This crispy cold air is an excuse, a good enough excuse ~ to put on that stylish coat and that fresh hat! Derrick Landon rocked it out in this mini-session and even though we were racing against the sun, we managed to get more than a few good shots in! There’s no excuse for a bad shot when you have a cute tot in a peacoat & a pom-pom hat!

Gezal, thank you for a great time over tongue-slappin’ barbeque and toastin’ to the good life with mouth waterin’ margaritas! ; ) I love good times!

Vanessa: Fearless

Vanessa came to her photo session without any qualms. This lil’ girl exemplifies the free-spirited-kinda-girl who is fearless and ready for the world! Vanessa was the type of tot who was made to be in front of the camera, so you could imagine how much fun she was to follow and photograph! A lot of people…let alone children are camera shy and so it’s always nice to have that part taken care of and the work cut out for me when I photograph! She gave me a lot to work with and sported a lot of looks, so we couldn’t be any happier with the results! Vanessa is definitely charismatic and photogenic to say the least and it made my job so so easy! So easy – I didn’t even have to make any threats or push her in the water myself to get her to catch a crashing wave. ;)

I love feedback from clients and it means a lot to hear wonderful things about something that I am so passionate about. Photography is an art form and there’s nothing better than the gratitude that I get from clients’ comments. Art is always subjective and when my vision is interpreted and seen the way I see it, my mission is accomplished! I was particularly elated and whispered an “awww” when I received this e-mail from Vanessa’s mom:

“Girl, you are the sh*t! I have tears in my eyes. You captured my daughter at her best! Not only did you capture her silly side but her little serious side as well…what we call serious“ness”! I am in love with them! I love them all! Thanks again! Navy, you are amazing!”

I am humbled by the comments, feedback and even the constructive criticism that I receive! They all are significant to me as I am always a working progress, so thank you all for the comments that you have left, the e-mails that you have sent and the delightful words! I appreciate it from the bottom of my bottomless heart!

Melana: Grins 'n' Giggles

Melana came ready with powder blue princess heels and a bagful of grins and giggles. According to her mother, this fashionista wasn’t leaving the house without the shoes. It arrived tucked away at the very bottom of a plastic bag, but we decided to whip them out and coincidently, it matched the blue trim on her dress! I hate to say it, but I really do think Melana will soon blossom into a “Manolo Blahnik” girl! I couldn’t believe how expressive Melana was throughout the session and in a lot of ways, she reminded me of Mya. Melana allowed me in her world and for a moment, I was submersed in her wonderland without any reticence. I could see now why most people live vicariously through their children…children who are free-spirited without a care in the world. Mary and Mike, I thank you for seeking me out to photograph your lil’ brownie! She is just one of the most well-spoken, well-behaved and well-mannered lil’ girl I have ever come across!
